Is it possible to cure a glaucoma?
No, it’s a chronic disease very frequently conducting to progressing of process.
Is glaucoma a dangerous disease?
Very much, as can conduce to blindness if the treatment is wrong or delayed.
Is it possible to blind, having been ill a glaucoma?
Unfortunately, it is possible.
Why there comes blindness at a glaucoma?
Under influence of high intraocular pressure (HIP) and infringements of a feed, there is a gradual destruction of fibres of an optic nerve. When the most part of fibres perishes, the eye ceases to see.
Why I felt nothing, and the eye has ceased to see?
It’s the glaucoma’s craftiness, pressure is high, but you can feel nothing. Therefore it is the extremely important for everyone who has more 40 years to pass regular inspection at the ophthalmologist with measurement of intraocular pressure.
When is it necessary to be operated at a glaucoma?
When it’s unable to lower pressure by different ways: medicamentous (drop) or laser treatment.
Why I was diagnosed with a glaucoma, and intraocular pressure is in norm?
There is a special version of a glaucoma - a glaucoma of low pressure. Then diagnose on other, characteristic changes for a glaucoma:

  • narrowing of a field of vision, characteristic for a glaucoma;
  • atrophy of an optic nerve that is visible at survey of an eye grounds;
  • thin changes of color and light sensitivity of eyes.
Is it possible to watch TV and to read much at a glaucoma?
At a glaucoma there are no restrictions in visual loading.
What restrictions at a glaucoma?
It is necessary to limit a drinking diet up to 2 litres a day (including fruit and soups), it is impossible to lift weights and to work head first. Also it is not recommended to sleep downwards the face.
Can the glaucoma be inherited?
Very frequently predisposition to a glaucoma is inherited.
Why has my HIP increased?
There are many reasons: anatomic features of structure of an eye, frustration of activity of cardiovascular system, increase of production of an intraocular liquid.
Does high HIP depend (or increase of HIP) on high arterial pressure?
Fluctuations of HIP can synchronously occur to changes of arterial pressure, but it does not mean, that increase of arterial pressure results in a glaucoma.
